Re: Apologies
If you come across someone on TV (a politician, movie star, sports idol--it doesn't matter), and they are offering an apology that starts with, "I'm sorry if..."--change the channel immediately.

Here's the deal: If you say something stupid while you thought you were off camera, I'll take an apology because we all think things we wouldn't necessarily want the world to know about. All of us have stepped in it from time to time and actually said the wrong thing out loud. But when you intentially stand up and boldly make an argument, there is no apologizing for that. Your beliefs are your beliefs, there is no need to apologize for them. If they make you a political outcast, so be it. But apologizing for believing the way you do doesn't change the fact that you believe that way. It just means you're too weak and pathetic to stand behind what you say.
