Too Close For Comfort
A sudden thunderstorm blew up this evening about 7:00; in the space of 20 minutes we went from partly sunny to torrential rain--typical Houston summertime weather. Suddenly there was a explosion in the yard, and it was clear lightning had struck very close. Sure enough, the big pine in the neighbor's yard, right across the fence, had bark stripped off from top to the ground.
A very similar pine in the front yard was struck not six months ago; miraculously it survived. I hope our luck holds.
In any event, I'm posting this on dial up to say we'll be out of touch for a few days--we're headed up to Colorado. If I don't break my neck on the "easy" mountain bike trails, I'll be back on Tuesday.
