Another "Me, Me, Me" Guy

AcademicElephant has a good update on yet another "me, me, me" former government employee--this one being former Secretary of State Colin Powell's Chief of Staff Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson. This is the guy, you may recall, who claimed that US foreign policy had been hijacked by Cheney and Rumsfeld for their own sinister purposes. He has now reiterated his claims in an LA Times op-ed.

AE points out that there's good reason to be suspicious of Wilkerson's credibility in analyzing the inner workings of the highest level of policy making. According to Rumsfeld, Wilkerson was never present at NSC meetings.

Wilkerson seems like just another in a long line of former staffers who have been relatively successful in ascending to a high level of government service. The only problem is that they didn't climb quite high enough to be able to back up the assertions that their book deal or TV analyst position requires.
