Happy Birthday

...to me. Or rather, the Bernoulli Effect. My first post was a year ago today.

I really didn't know what to expect when I started this blog; all I knew was that Rathergate had made it clear that threre was a revolution taking place in the way news is produced, consumed and analyzed--and I wanted participate in that revolution, to whatever extent I could.

And I'm happy with the results--not satisfied, but happy. There are some friends of this blog who have rocketed into the higher realms of the ecosystem in pretty much the same time frame as I've been around--bloggers Mark Coffey at Decision '08; AJ Strata at The Strata-Sphere; and AcademicElephant at Elephants in Academia--and they remain inpsiring examples of what can be accomplished in this new age.

I've still got tons to learn--such as how to increase my blogging time as well as my bike training time. ;-)

It should be a fun year.

I had a rotten weekend and so missed this--I'm just catching up. Happy Blogoversary! It's an interesting voyage, isn't it?

Cheers!

It sure is. My wife is a long-time poster at the photo-community Flickr. She's made good friends in cities ranging from Berlin to Florida to Brazil to Japan--it's amazing. I can scarcely imagine life without the internet.

And thanks for the kind wishes!

Congrats, Jeff. I passed the 1 year mark last month as well. Whereas I rarely comment here, I do read regularly. I think you might be a little hard on yourself - I think you are writing one of the best conservative viewpoint sites around. Kudos.

Thanks, T.B. I do appreciate that.

I don't comment nearly as much as I'd like to; as far as that goes, I don't read as many blogs as I'd like to either...The older I get, the younger I feel, and the faster time seems to fly.

Congrats, Jeff. Consider me in camp with 'The Bad'...

Funny anecdote on how I found your blog...

My father-in-law was teaching his beautiful, perfect 4-year-old granddaughter (my devilish, sly going-on-14 daughter) how to place her finger over the tip of her straw and draw out a measure of chocolate milk while out for breakfast as we normally go Sunday mornings.

When she asked him in amazement precisely why this wonder occurs, in an attempt to assure her he indeed does know everything, he just blurted out, "Ahhh...that's the Bernoulli Effect." She nodded, impressed with his wisdom and knowledge as he turned and shrugged to me.

I promptly went home and Googled the Bernoulli Effect, curious to see if the wonderful old guy actually remembered such a tid-bit from way back (he is 70+).

That was...oh...about a year ago.

I've learned more about the Bernoulli Effect than I had bargained for.

I figured you'd enjoy that one.

Cheers, Jeff, and congrats again.

Ah...4,5,6...7. Those are wonderful years (ours just turned seven). Their intelligence has congealed, they've got tons of personality, and they still don't feel embarassed about giving you a hug in public!

Thanks so much for relating the story...I'm glad you've found something useful here. ;-)
