Truer Words Were Never Spoke
Regarding imam Hajji Ilgar's statement, “I am for freedom of speech but not the freedom to insult,” Cliff May responds, "You can't have one without the other."
From the Islamist imams to the Dixie Chicks, why is this concept so hard to understand? There are some on the Right who don't get it, either.

Specifically, on the right, we have Newt Gingrich. As I outlined here, his ideas about curtailing free speech to fight terrorism go against everything we, as a nation, stand for.

Not to mention McCain's questionable beliefs regarding the internet and free speech. We don't have to curtain free speech to fight the war against the jihadists--we just have to enforce the laws against leaking classified information, etc.
