Wise Words

I mountain biking friend of mine asked:

I wonder if it would be OK that after attending KKK meetings for the last 20 years all one would have to do is condemn what was said at those meetings and everything would be fine?

That is a very good question. And the answer is: of course not. Whatever were you thinking?

"Whatever you were thinking?"
Maybe some folks might be thinking of Sen. Robert Byrd, former member and high-ranking official in the KKK. He's a Democrat, though, so that doesn't really matter, does it?

Um...yeah it does matter, whether he's a Democrat or not. But even Byrd didn't donate over $20,000 to the Klan last year.

Ah, the double-standard – a liberal mainstay. Much like this story of a black judge who cleared his courtroom of white folk so that he could properly address only the blacks. He was good enough to say that it was a “mistake”, but I am left wondering if a white judge clearing the room of blacks would be afforded the opportunity to extol the same “my-bad” sort of apology.

I can't believe that story (ed: what are you, new or something?). I mean, there are "mistakes" and then there are mistakes. Some mistakes just shouldn't be allowed to happen--like an airline pilot flying drunk. The kind of action that judge exhibited should never enter the consciousness of anyone in his position.

Agreed. Yet, as predicted, there appears to be no action against this judge whatsoever. If there was, there was certainly no media follow-up.
